Erin H. Olson
Most Realtors will tell you they sell houses. Not me. In fact, I’m more likely to talk you out of buying a house, than into buying one. (Counterintuitive when you consider I only get paid if I sell a house). To me, the homebuying process isn’t about me – it isn’t even about the house – it’s about you. My goal is to help you make the best decisions when it comes to achieving your life goals. Maybe that’s buying your first home; maybe that’s downsizing; maybe that’s figuring out if that dilapidated shack is a good investment property and exactly how much it’s going to cost to renovate. I’m here to be your reality check. I’m here to give you the resources you need to tackle the world and bring clarity to your dreams.
To me, real estate isn’t really even about houses. It’s about making dreams come true and achieving the life you’ve always wanted. Your home isn’t about the house; it’s about YOU. What do you want? What do you need? What helps you achieve the future you envision?
I’m here to help you along that journey. My goal is for you to feel comfortable and confident in one of the biggest, most expensive decisions of your life. Maybe you buy a house; maybe you don’t. Maybe you buy THREE houses. Ultimately, it’s YOUR LIFE that determines these decisions. Maybe you like renovating the diamond in the rough and making it your own. Maybe you just like the IDEA of this but the reality of living in a construction zone would sooner have you clawing your eyes out.
Do you want the move-in ready model home? Or a fixer-upper? Or maybe something in between? Do you want to live near your work? Or maybe near your family? Or maybe the next up-and-coming neighborhood?
What’s that smell? What’s a soffit? Is the wall supposed to look like that? How much are closing costs? What are closing costs? When is my first mortgage payment due?
Real estate has been so many things for me. It is something I am truly passionate about. I want to share that excitement, experience, and knowledge with the world! I entered as a timid, clueless first-time homebuyer. I tested the waters of my home renovation skills. I upsized my second home building brand new. I turned my first home into a rental property. I started flipping houses. I bought my first flip for less than the price of a car. I bought another… an another… and started helping friends and family flip their own homes. I downsized. I completely gutted my third home while living in it with my husband, newborn baby, and 2 large dogs while all our stuff was packed in boxes and with no running water on the first floor. (A terrible idea). Somehow, I made it out alive. I started consulting – on renovations and design; on staging and decorating; on marketing and branding. I quit my stable, soul-crushing corporate job of 10 years to chase my real estate dreams full-time. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Each step of the journey was necessary to get me to where I am today. Each step taught me something. Each step helped me grow. I continue to learn and grow every single day.
The people I’ve met along the way – the mentors, the contractors, the clients – the experiences I’ve had (the blood, the sweat, the tears, the sleepless nights, the what was I thinking, the OMG this is amazing!!!! The “we should do this again”, the “we should never do this again”) – I wouldn’t change them for the world. I have learned so much over the course of the last decade and I continue to be blessed by new experiences, new challenges, new ideas everyday. I continue to learn everyday. My clients – the people who trust me with the biggest purchase of their life – teach me just as much as I teach them. We laugh, we cry, we scream… sometimes all at once. We’re in this together. I’m here for you and I will guide you through every step of the way. That overwhelming, sometimes bewildering, expansive road of real estate is my happy place. I know the way home.
Real estate is like dating. It’s a relationship. You like me; I like you; we trust each other and work together towards a common goal. If we don’t, it won’t work. You are as much a part of this relationship as I am. It’s a two-way street (not a highway and a bike path). I will listen to you, hear your concerns, understand your worries, and support you the entire way. And I can do all this because I’ve been there. I’ve sat where you sit, walked where you walk, and felt what you feel. When I say I understand, it’s because I really, truly do. I want the best for you. You want the best for you. I’m here to make that happen. (to facilitate it).
Those embarrassing questions you’re afraid to ask… I’m here to answer them. That seemingly impossible offer you want to make on the home of your dreams… I’m here to put you in the strongest position possible. Those moments where you wake up panicked over whether you’ve found the right house and you’re making the right decision… I’m here to talk you through it. ALL of it.
And when it’s over… I’m here to be your friend for life, to serve as your resource for any question enters your mind (how much does it really cost to remove a load-bearing wall?), to help you know when it’s time to take the next step (how much is my house worth now?) People often think of Realtors as transactional business relationships. Good ones go far beyond closing day.
